Village of Kholui
   Straddling the banks of the river Teza, the village of Kholui exudes the kind of scenic beauty that has inspired artists for centuries. The poetic setting is reflected in the magnificent landscapes of Kholui's minatures. Other distinctive include, a style that walks a line between the realism of Fedoskino and the romance of Palekh and Mstera. Human figures are more true to life than Palekh, and yet a sense of fantasy is infused. Kholui shares a heritage of icon paintings with Palekh and Mstera. Though Kholui is the youngest of the Russian Lacquer craft, it is a vivid art which embodies the experience, talent and skill of many generations.
